These are the most commonly asked questions about Radikal Neon & our custom signs.
Can't find what you're looking for?
If your neon sign is required urgently we offer our expedited lead time. This will help you get your sign in 12 days or less. We do also offer an even faster option, that will see you get your sign in 5 days or less, you will need to contact us to enquire about that turnaround to confirm the possibility for your project.
Learn moreOur signs vary from $100 to as much as you’d like to pay. Typically our custom neon signs go for around $500 for a 2 x 2ft (600 x 600mm) sign.
The cost is dictated by the length of LED neon used, and the overall size/complexity of the sign.
LED is a more cost-effective option that is considerably more robust. Glass neon is a true aficionado's option, it won’t ship well and can be damaged easily - but the classic neon glow is hard to beat.
Head to our ‘Learn more’ page for a direct comparison of neon signs and LED signs.
All of our signs produced for indoor use include a 2-year warranty valid from the date of dispatch. This warranty is free and includes all electrical components as well (transformers, AC plugs and dimmers). The warranty does not cover intentional/non-intentional damage.
If your custom sign is not specified for outdoor usage, then do not use it outdoors as it will fail. Warranty will not cover this.

Learn moreIt’s a personal preference, but we typically recommend the rule of thirds. If a wall is 3ft wide, we’d recommend the sign to be 1ft wide, with a foot at either side, balancing the space.
However if you want to make a bigger impact with your custom neon sign, go bigger - or if you want a subtle, classy look - go smaller.
The simpler the design the better, and linework style logos/designs typically translate the best into a custom LED sign.
Learn moreThe best color for roadside visibility is red or cool white on your custom neon. But generally it comes down to what you think is best, don’t overthink it too much!
Learn moreOur LED Neon signs are shipped in reinforced custom cardboard boxes with foam or bubblewrap. They are safe for national and international shipping, we also warranty the sign until it arrives with you, if it arrives broken let us know immediately so that we can sort it out for you.
We don’t ship our glass neon signs though, they will almost certainly break unfortunately. Collection only from our Los Angeles location.
Using the screws or hanging wires we provide freely with your sign order. Use the ‘Learn more’ link below to get a step-by-step guide on how to use each of our installation kits.
Learn moreOur signs can last for up to 40,000 hours, which translates to roughly 4 years of illumination. We also provide a 2-year electrical warranty on the sign/hardware in case anything naturally occurs to the sign that results in fault. This doesn’t cover intentional/non-intentional damage however.
Learn moreNo, neon signs are made from glass neon tubes. LED neon signs are made from LEDs inside silicon tubes. The overall effect of LEDs is very similar to glass neon, and they are regularly confused.
Learn moreYes, our custom LED neon signs can absolutely be repaired - it all just depends on the issue. This includes glass neon signs as well.
If your sign is under warranty from us then the repairs/replacements might be covered.
Yes, using our acrylic LED neon we can produce custom signs that are suitable for rain/water/snow and cold conditions and hot ones too.
Learn moreTotally, we sell dimmer remotes that allow our custom neon lights to be dimmed right down. Perfect for bedroom and lounge environments. You can find our range of dimmer remotes here.
Learn moreLED Neon signs are not dangerous. Our LED neon signs are low voltage (12 volts) and they produce minimal heat, so they're safe to touch.
On the other hand, glass neon signs can be dangerous if broken. Small shards of glass can go everywhere. Neon/argon/mercury/xenon is not recommended to touch or inhale, and in fact is very dangerous if done.
Are LED neon signs are warm to the touch, but being low voltage never gets too hot. As a result, they produce minimal to no heat, even when they’ve been on for days or weeks on end. The most they heat up is a slight warmth to touch after being on for extended periods of time.
We would never recommend touching a glass neon sign, they do get much hotter than LED and are particularly fragile.
